About Us - MCCWA (Muslim Charity Community of Western Australia)
Welcome to Masjid Al Rahman, a beacon of faith, unity, and service for the Muslim community in Western Australia. More than a place of worship, our masjid is a testament to the power of vision, determination, and the unyielding spirit of our local community.
At the heart of our foundation lies the Muslim Charity Community of Western Australia (MCCWA), a registered not-for-profit organization established on 31 December 2003. Inspired by a shared dream, members of the local community came together with a vision: to establish a center that would not only serve as a house of Allah (SWT) but also as a vibrant hub for connection, learning, and spiritual growth. Their ambition was to create one of the largest and most impactful Islamic establishments in Western Australia—a place that reflects the values of our faith and supports the aspirations of generations to come.
Since its establishment, MCCWA has worked tirelessly to turn this vision into reality. Through generosity, collaboration, and unwavering commitment, Masjid Al Rahman now stands as a symbol of unity and dedication to serving the needs of the Muslim community.
As a registered not-for-profit organization, MCCWA operates with transparency and integrity, reinvesting all resources into community-building initiatives, religious programs, and outreach efforts. Our mission is to uplift the Muslim community while promoting the universal values of compassion, understanding, and service to humanity.
We invite you to join us on this journey—whether by praying with us, participating in our programs, or contributing to our mission of building a stronger, more resilient community for all.

History and Milestones
The establishment of Masjid Al Rahman is a remarkable journey of perseverance, faith, and community spirit. It reflects the collective efforts of the local Muslim community and the Muslim Charity Community of Western Australia (MCCWA), who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. Below is a detailed account of the key milestones, challenges, and architectural highlights.
2003 – Formation of MCCWA
The journey began with the formation of the Muslim Charity Community of Western Australia (MCCWA) on 31 December 2003. This registered not-for-profit organisation was established to serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the Muslim community in WA, with a clear vision to create a purpose-built masji
Land Purchase
2004–2009 – Fundraising and Land Purchase
The first step towards realising this vision was raising funds for the masjid. Over five years, MCCWA organised numerous community events and fundraising initiatives, with overwhelming support from the local Muslim community.
In 2009, the committee reached a significant milestone: the purchase of land for the masjid. This marked the first tangible step towards establishing a dedicated space for worship and community activities.
2010–2013 – Approval Challenges and Court Case
Despite acquiring the land, obtaining council approval proved to be a major hurdle. Applications submitted in 2010 and 2011 faced rejection, despite the masjid’s proposed location being next to an established church. This led to a lengthy court case to challenge the council’s decision.
Finally, after persistent efforts, the application was approved in 2013, marking a triumphant moment for MCCWA and the broader Muslim community.
Costs incurred – Land and Construction
2016 – Commencement of Construction
With approval in place, construction of the masjid began in 2016, starting with the foundation. Fundraising efforts continued alongside construction, as the project required substantial resources, with estimated costs of $2–$2.5 million.
Volunteer Contributions
A majority of the construction costs were mitigated through the unwavering support of local tradespeople who volunteered their time and expertise every weekend. This spirit of giving was instrumental in advancing the project.
Challenges During Construction
The journey was not without its difficulties. Several obstacles arose during the construction phase:
- Vandalism: Electrical cabling was cut and stolen during construction, requiring rework and causing delays of several months.
- Community Relations: While initial resistance came from surrounding neighbors, their approach gradually changed, and they became welcoming and supportive of the project.
